Mrs. Drapati Devi is the wife of   Shri Sagar Sah. She is a resident of Guwahati Railway Colony, Bamunimaidan, Guwahati-21, Assam.  Her husband is the owner of a small house consisting of two rooms where she reared her childrens. Her husband was a laborer working with the Food Corporation of India at Bamunimaidan, New Guwahati, Pin-781021 in Assam. At the time of retirement his elder son Mr. Om Prakash Sah got absorbed in the post of her husband. Her elder son Mr. Om Prakash Sah got married to Ms. Saboo Devi and after the marriage of her son she and her husband became the victim of domestic violence. She along with her husband has been thrown out her house by her son and daughter-in-law

and has also refused in maintaining her. Being aggrieved she has been running from pillar to post since long for justice. She was guided by her well-wisher and informed regarding the new law relating to protection of women from domestic violence and accordingly she came forward for justice defying all hurdles and obstacles...

Support a friend or family member experiencing domestic violence

If you know or suspect that a family member, friend or work colleague is experiencing domestic violence, it may be difficult to know what to do. It can be very upsetting that someone is hurting a person you care about. Your first instinct may be to want to protect your friend or family member but intervening can be dangerous for both you and her. Of course, this does not mean you should ignore it. There are things you can do to help make her and any children safer.
